What is Childzilla?

Kids…we love 'em. Most of the time they are little angels. But sometimes…well, it seems like a wild monster has taken over and is running the house! They argue, they talk back, they stubbornly refuse to do their chores…the list can go on and on. "Childzilla" is the term we affectionately use to describe this "monstrous" behaviour in our kids.

Like many frustrated parents you may be asking, "So what can I do to get my child to behave?" It is this exact question that prompted us to develop the tools you can use on Childzilla.com.

Simply put, Childzilla is an online chore assignment, tracking and reward system. But it's much more than that.

Childzilla is an interactive experience. It's an online destination where parent and child work together to improve behaviour through a system of positive reinforcement – the primary philosophy behind Childzilla. As well, Childzilla is a safe and fun place for kids to experience the Internet with games and even their own customizable webpage!

Many parents use home made chore charts to help their children keep track of daily chores. Some parents even include a chore reward system on the chart. But these homemade systems can be difficult to create, maintain and keep current.

Childzilla solves this problem and takes the concept of chore charts to the next level. By utilizing the technology of the Internet, Childzilla makes the routine tasks of tracking chores and providing rewards an interactive experience you and your children can enjoy together! Parents love it because it's effective! Children love it because it's fun. In fact, kids love Childzilla so much they don't even realizing they're learning while they're having fun!

Behaviours such as "getting along with your brother," and "remembering to say 'thank-you" as well as personal habits such as "brushing your teeth," can be charted, monitored and rewarded on Childzilla!

Childzilla was created by a group of parents just like you that wanted an improved method of tracking chores and providing rewards for positive behaviour. At first, it was just a simple chart where the child could check off chores as they were done. Over time, the system grew and improved as new ideas were implemented. We included a point based reward system, a calendar function, customizable webpages for each child, daily comments field for parents, a “rewards store” and a rewards “wish list” for the kids.

When we told other parents about it they couldn’t wait to try it. That is when Childzilla was created. We opened up the site to around 50 families who tested out the site and provided their input. This made Childzilla what it is today.
